The only way to make a habit is to say NO multiple times to your limbic system (old brain). Whenever you want to open social media, your limbic brain is asking to do it for pleasure. If your PFC (prefrontal cortex) say NO, lets open it after an hour. Then that's a win. Now after an hour, even if you open your Instagram or social media its your PFC taking the decision. Delay gratification is the best way to make habits.
